The concept of a Hospital that learns, teaches, communicates (Hôpital apprenant, enseignant, communicant) was brought by Dr Fabrice Brunel, Director of the University Hospital of Montreal (CHUM) and the University Hospital Centre mother-child Ste-Justine (CHUSJ).  Its goal is to “create a learner in a patient partnership ecosystem”.

The concept has rallied patient interaction actors such as Telus Health, Hospitalis, and Petalmd.

In line with the intervention of Olivier Perrin in the October 2015 Healthcare Innovation Week, FutureWithPast offers to encapsulate this clinical level in a level of governance to build data memory, allow consistent analysis and make it possible to take decisions based on facts.

On-going: a proof of concept centered on diabetes

The partners propose to build a proof of concept in the form of a prototype of the ecosystem centered on a specific clinical path.  Diabetes was chosen because of, among other things, its prevalence in Quebec, the need for a long-term commitment of the patient, and the potential for gains of performance and therefore savings.
